Boat Regulations
ANY member of our Lake Devonshire Association is welcome to use the lake for recreation.
Boats must be powered only by sail, paddle or electric/trolling motor. Row boats, paddle boats, canoes, skiffs, jon boats and sailboats are authorized. Inflatable rafts are authorized if they have sides which prevent occupants from having direct contact with the water. In addition to any state registration requirements, all boats must be registered (free of charge) with the designated LDHA member. A boat platform may also be rented. Boats must at all times be attended by an adult member of the LDHA. Each boat occupant must be provided with a life jacket of USCG approved floatation device. Each owner shall be allowed to maintain 2 boats on the lake. Boats are permitted between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m. from March 15 through November 15.

Reminder: Standing Water in Boats
Illinois remains one of the states hardest hit by the West Nile Virus. The disease is spread by mosquitoes which breed in standing water. The lake itself probably has enough wave action to stay safe, but our boats can be a perfect breeding ground if they are allowed to have water in them. The LDHA Board has developed a policy regarding water in boats.
When you are walking around the lake and notices standing water in a boat, please contact Steve Wattnem at 398-6653. Steve is in charge of contacting the boat owners and asking them to empty the water out within seven days. If an owner does not comply, the board has authorized a $25.00 fine to be levied against them. Repeat offenders risk losing their mooring privileges altogether, so they would have to remove their boat after each use.
